       I came out in 1993 and have never passed as hetero. My personal rules for staying alive in the bad old days included, but were not limited to:- keep your head up in public- don't trust cops- never travel alone- unless proven otherwise, assume any hetero you encounter, including family, will always choose their comfort over your rights- beware groups of white boys- don't let the bastards get you down

       The test stitch up of the brocade hoodie that I intend to put in the #ElfkinCollection trunk show is done! It’s going to require myriad revisions to finalize the pattern for the seamstresses, but even in its not-quite-there state and using a whatever fabric, I still love it. #sewing #fashion

       Upon discovering that dude who wouldn’t take “no thanks” as a response to “do you want anti-glare coating?” at the eye doc last week ALSO overcharged me by $50, I rang them up. $50 refunded, and I learned that dude was fired. Hope the used car lot takes him back.

       Putting in welted pockets on suede is… different. Unlike with most leather, you can’t use a hammer to set the seam when turned as it’ll crush the nap. So it’s all just finger pressed. If this were wool, I’d be horrified at the smooshey corners. But on suede this is as good as it’s getting. #sewing
