@r sounds yum. I love miruku tii. I just found out you can order canned boba tea on amazon, but it's so expensive, so I am still making the haul to the asian market to get it. It has the boba in the bottom and everything. We have boba tea shops here too but I like something I can make at home.

oh hai ; Merry christmas eve! I'm having a quite happy one all alone unto myself. Got all my groceries and the cooking will be awesome over the next few days. Brie was absolutely miserably hard to find, but I got enough of it to feel happy. I wanted 3 16oz rounds of it, but I will make due with 3 8oz wedges. I'm obsessed with eating brie, and yes I do eat the rind. I am so obsessed with the stuff.. mmmnow fun music and movies.

mmmm... <3"Blue Period" is an amazing anime about being an artist, and advancing as an artist. It's about an art student preparing to get into a specific school. It's honestly a fantastic anime if you're an artist. It does a really great job of portraying how traditional art schools work, and in Japan they are not so different from America anymore. As an artist, I felt it helped me understand myself as an artist. I sat down while watching it and drew one of my better references draws and character profiles. One thing I noticed while listening to the anime and some of the instructional dialogue was that the edits I made to fix my art and improve it while doing it came out much better than they would have if I was just drawing like normal.. think I'm going to find some instructional videos to really tune into and set myself up with seme artistic challenges and exercises. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQZgO_ZA5jU&ab_channel=NetflixAnime

I'm sure Japanese and American art schools are quite different, but having been in college and looking through art schools recently. I think it's well captured in this anime. The illustration and art style is also great. You get into it and notice it, even if you can tell it's a Netflix anime. Meaning... it's not like the oldschool gonzo productions or XXXholic/Blood+ stuff. Oh I'd do anything for that oldschool XXXholic style to be revived with some new modern stories, not just the illustration but the production and anime style, soundtrack score as well. I think animes from 2000+ and some back in the 1990's just felt and sounded rather comfortable, some of them lacked a bit in the writing department, but others did not.

I recently went back and rewatched Blood+. It's such a beautiful and well-done horror anime. They managed this fantastic balance with horror so that it actually felt good and comfortable and beautiful and cathartic to watch. These days they make everything feel either too "action"/"real" loud and scary, and it just is disruptive with less artistic balance. Hard to describe, but it's just the way this anime feels... It's hard to find in anything newer.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXDoJxAdwjQ&ab_channel=caitiejeanhoward

These Japanese Onsen bath salts are amazing. Better than any bath bomb or anything I've ever used. They are supposed to each be tuned specifically to the different pH's of the different hot springs all around Japan, and thus they each have different uses for soothing different kind of skin and body ailments. It's thought that the springs all around Japan and their specific pH is very healthy for the skin and body, and very therapeutic. There's a pack of regular ones that turn your bath kind of green/blue/orange, they smell very mild, and they do feel really nice and adjust the water pH. They do have some smell though. At first I was concerned it'd be a highly synthetic product and was wondering how they mimicked hot spring pH levels and water, but now that I've used them it makes more sense to me. It is synthetic, similar to other bath salts or bombs, but they really are incredible, and the closest thing you can come to something more naturally soothing. Also, now I know wtf all the characters in anime are using when they turn their baths green and take green baths. It's these little packets.
