@Debradelai I think the real story here is that S.Gen Min Aung Hlaing rose rapidly with CCP support from 2011 onwards - CCP offered the Tatmadaw extensive material support against the ethnic militias and massive infrastructure spending on oil/gas sector. This power grab by a CCP ally is a first flex on the Biden admin, cementing the Burma/Laos/Cambodia irongrip. ASSK was such an icon of goodness that anyone boosted their image by being with her. And her cause needed any and all intl support, so.

@Debradelai Possible there. But the reality is that CCP support is essential for any semblance or shakeup of political power in Burma. This move doesn't take place without CCP acquiescence.
