manifest v3 fast approaching in January. time to give the middle finger to google. if youre using Chromium because its open source, consider switching to Ungoogled Chromium at the very least.although if v3 breaks ublock origin you might have better luck switching to Brave.but best over all would be just saying "fuck you" to google and skipping their web engine overall!Librewolf, or Firefox. hell, palemoon at least as an older Ublock origin.while youre at it, delete your google account and use aurora store and fdroid on your android to get apps. how long do we tolerate it?

too long have i heard people say that "these companies have to make money some how"meanwhile projects like Tor Browser, Tails, and countless others exist and are doing well despite not being in the "advertising industry"and lets be clear "business of ads" is not ethical, unless its a billboard.

Okay, so i've been giving Devuan a try on desktop and everything seems to work just fine and I've noticed essentially no difference in performance between Devuan and Debian. Been thinking of moving my laptop over to devuan but I wonder.. What is the reason to do so? Is it worth ditching systemD? I use OpenRC, are other Init systems better?I understand that SystemD is bloated, does it effect anything related to security and privacy? What are some more realistic reasons to switch away from SystemD? I should note I don't have any hard feelings concerning SystemD myself and I'm merely just interested in exploring other systems and other ways to do things

new Wikipedia redesign is fucking terrible, waste of perfectly usable screenspacealso breaks Wikiless. essentially just makes the entire website irritating to use.wikipedia is one of my favorite websites and now it just gives me a headache and pisses me off to hop on. 0/10so many people saying "oh its 'barely noticeable' " total BS, its immediately noticable. sick of companies focusing everything towards tablets. here's some crazy news:ipads already have the wikipedia app you didnt have to ruin the website to cater towards people who use ipads. overall, very displeased with the new update. terrible

@OpenComputeDesign absolutely, its obnoxious and it makes it less readable. at this point the only way to remove the "tablet" looking design from it is to simply just disable JS and run it in tor. even then, new design is still terrible.also:they still didn't add dark mode toggle,ANDif you run wikipedia in a text based browser like the command line using Lynx or Links, you now have to scroll through all the languages before you hit the article. New design is functionally impractical.

Looks like Reddit is taking the route of greed again and ruining third party apps for everybody. once Infinity stops working on android and libreddit stops working on desktop, i'll likely stop using reddit for good unless a very compelling post i can't miss comes up, and even then, i'll loathe needing to do so. thank god for platforms like mastodon, even though i don't know anybody personally on here, at least its a free platform for all people and if you want to make a damn app using its API you fucking can

it's been a while since i've posted on here. I've been experimenting with FreeBSD with KDE and it is surprisingly useable. I don't think i'll ever switch away from OpenSUSE tumbleweed on my main machines. But i encourage everybody to try FreeBSD just because just another operating system to resist this destructive proprietery hellscape of software. Linux and FreeBSD forever

@Piejacker875 that being said, and this is just my opinion. Wayland just isn't up to snuff for what i need to do. most of the distros i've used with Wayland have caused more trouble than they were worth, even if the display felt smoother. I run OpenSUSE tumbleweed and X11 works great for me currently.
