@Ghislaine Read this:No BS Guide to Improving Your Visionby C.G. Hayeshttps://www.losetheglasses.org/cliffgnu-vision.pdf(several other locations as well)About 20 page pdf. Just buy a new pair of spectacles about every 6 months to a year, about .25 diopter weaker (or stronger) each time.Use the newest pair as your computer and reading glasses and the previous ones as your driving glasses (if short-sighted like me).I have been following this for about 8 years and have improved about 3 diopters in that time.Zenni Optical sells cheap spectacles by internet orders - like <$200 for bifocals.

@sapphire @Ghislaine Actually there is a political angle to this. Here in Ontario, Canada the optometrists got a ruling saying that only they can specify eyeglasses prescriptions because glasses are a medical appliance. That means that what I am doing is probably technically legally naughty here. However, I too do not like spending $800 on glasses.

@dickflatteningenthusiast I visited Toronto this summer for the first time in 17 years. Taking the train back from the main railway station, Union Station, only about 1/4 of the people waiting were white. I guess that about 1/3 were Indian.I am over 60 years old. When I was born Toronto was not only almost all white, but it was 60% British.

@Ghislaine Your eyesight is pretty good already, it is more of an annoyance rather than immobilizing like mine was. I think you are already at the point where severely diminishing returns kicks in with this. With me it is like exercise - going from zero to **some exercise** gives more noticable improvement than going from quite strong to even stronger.

@Turdicus That was my immigration policy suggestion:"You can go home or you can go into the mass graves."

@sickburnbro My last jobs before I retired were in factories, making things - cutting, drilling, shaping, etc. Measurements were all in inches, the tolerance for one was 1/8", the other was 1/16". (The Things were fairly large and were to be part of even larger things so those tolerances were not considered large). Millimeters would have been too small and precise. Also, fractions of a inch are handier for things that must be halved or doubled.I am in Canada, which went compulsorily metric in the 1970s.

@ACL9000 I don't know but one time I had a persistent cough that prevented me from sleeping so I took the recommended one teaspoon of Benalyn. That didn't work of course so I drank a quarter of the small bottle. ZZZZZIIIINNNNGGGG!!!! I could barely lie down. It slightly reduced my cough but the stimulation lasted about 6 hours.

@DrBtc @deprecated_ii That was exactly the reason that a company that I worked for over 30 years ago deliberately hired non-English speaking immigrants and only grudgingly hired local white men.

@elftummy @graf I have lived in this apartment in southern Ontario for 9 years. The current market rent is twice what my rent-controlled rent is. It is about 80% mass immigration and 20% rent control.I can't afford to move.

@grey A relative started taking SSRIs about 1 year ago because he was sad that his girlfriend died. (We are all old and life becomes very empty after retirement). He started having seizures 3 months ago and can no longer drive a car. He had intended to spend retirement riding his motorcycle but of course it is just junk now.

@ThatWouldBeTelling @PurpCat @grey "Sad, etc." was just my one sentence summary of things, but doctors do seem to give them out like candy. A complication with my family is that no-one seeks my advice nor values my opinion so I learn things after the fact. Another complication is that he is at least 6 times vaxxed and boosted with the ClotShot (tm), although it hadn't had any bad effect previously - see my remark about him driving a 400 pound motorcycle. If anyone had asked me I would have directed them to Midwestern Doctor substack or Last Psychiatrist blog for easily digestible information.

@vic @jb They sent a commercial hard disk shredding company to a warehouse where the hard disks from the voting machines were stored a few weeks later. There was a clear court order that the hard disks should not be shredded but they did it anyway. I have checked the internet for the story but it seems to have disappeared and been replaced by denials that "paper ballots were shredded", which is not what the original story was.

@Wormwood "people love hearing their own name"That is from "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie (1936)"Remember that a person's name is, to that person, the sweetest and most important sound in any language."

@sapphire @IAMAL_PHARIUS My recollection of the invasion of Grenada in 1983 is that the reason was that the runway that Cuban workers were building at the airport wasn't for tourism, it was for bombers. I have a distinct memory of seeing some American general on television with a diagram showing concentric circles of Soviet bomber ranges overlapping Florida and beyond. The general seemed somewhat agitated and fearful about the communists gaining a forward base in the western hemisphere.A look at the map should cause one to see that this was ridiculous.

@Terry The first words out of the mouth of the Danish foreign minister should be "Has Congress authorized this negotiation and has it approved of the spending of $700 billion?"Preferably on live television.
