I've kinda come to the conclusion from games like Baldur's Gate 3 and Starfield that traditional "gaming" is dead and it's not coming back.On the flip side, now's a great time to start archiving old games because once they're gone, nobody will remember what an actual "good game" is.

Nevermind the fact that gaming today is effectively SAAS but with a local installation. Nothing is owned; you are just leasing the game data files from the publisher.But yeah, I really do think gaming as I knew it from the 90s and 2000's is dead. RIP

I haven't had an update completely hosed my system since Debian Testing hosed my grub about 4 or 5 years ago. Before that, it was Manjaro.Today it's Arch Linux. The update blew away some config files and broke resolvd. I do not have hours this morning to fix it.I'm literally aghast. Good thing this happened in development.

Got my system working but manually configuring the resolver.. I've never done that before!And I hope not to. Apparently Pacman steamrolls over any changes you've made to a default config file with reckless abandon.So I guess they expect you to keep a personal database of all your configurations in case an update hoses them?In retrospect, I should have just used a Snapshot. Silly me.

Curious observation about the Internet Archive hack ~The data obtained from IA is low-quality and at best at most be used to fuel spam campaigns.Hacking an organization is risky and time consuming. So, there must be an incentive or reward for doing it.So, why was IA hacked? Likely for prestige or testing the capabilities of a tool or CVE.Either way, not every hack is a threat to you or your identity. It's just shit people doing shit things.

When did logging users out of their accounts become a standard thing Google does for "security"? I understand the argument, but it's a big like using a nuke to blow up a bunker.Here's an idea, how about do away with sessions completely. Log in once and if you switch tabs, you log out. Can't get much safer than that!
