@stefano @freebsd Thanks for the writeup. I like to tinker with different operating systems all the time. Just last week I installed OpenBSD on my Slimbook and the Wifi Just Worked. Somebody commented on that, and now I realize how special this is hahaha. Running a VM to get Wifi, hilarious! Enjoy the ride! #runbsd

Wanting to #runbsd more I was looking at BSD friendly hosters, in Europe. There is not a lot of options. My goto hoster Hetzner does not support anything. I'm open to reliable and affordable options! Yes I already have a VM with @OpenBSDAms #runbsd #vps #hosting #europe

@kkarpieszuk The only way I can see this as something legitimate, when you are running ancient/retired version of ubuntu that needs a subscription to get extended support. So maybe just a bug or an ancient system. #ubuntu #linux

During x-mas break I was planning on doing some homelab tinkering and otherwise IT related stuff. When moving from tool to tool, I try to depend more on pure open source solutions (again). Last successes are moving from Synology sync client to syncthing and ofcourse moving most gitlab projects to forgejo. #progress #floss

Being part of the fediverse is great, but running mastodon for a single user instance is not the best fit in terms of maintenance and required resources. So I'm happy to share that I succesfully deployed both gotosocial and snac2 on openbsd. Both are tiny, lighweight ActivityPub servers that I wll try out the coming weeks/months. #fediverse #mastodon #gotosocial #snac2 #runbsd #floss

Becuase I'm in the market to lifecycle the current Synology NAS, I'm contemplating building something myself using OpenMediaVault. I considered TrueNas, but I think I would prefer a supported option (Synology) or a truly open option (OpenMediaVault)OpenMediaVault is just Debian with Benefits, so I'm downloading the iso to give it a spin in a VM. Would be good if it supported ZFS out of the box, but btrfs is fine too. #nas #floss
