       My wife uses the Google search bar on Android for everything. Of course, web pages open in Chrome, but you won’t find a browser in her dock or on her home screen. If you ask her what browser she’s using, she’ll say, “Google”. Which is… correct. Concerningly correct.

       DHH is basically doing what I do with Nostr tech, but at a much bigger scale...https://youtu.be/ZEFYTdzYxQMSituation: DHH really wants some low-priority, ultimately unnecessary feature for Omarchy (in this case, hot-applying themes on Chromium). Maintainers of the big project are busy doing big project maintenance work and couldn’t give a rat’s ass about Omarchy or this feature. DHH wants it now, not in 6 months or 6 years. So how do we proceed?Well... Just create (or pay someone to create) a microfork of project X, which uses a microfork of library Y, which itself depends on a microfork of library Z.Then microfork a CLI tool, write a bunch of glue code, and off to the races you go.Finally, let the big project maintainers know the feature works on your fork and walk away. When will it be merged upstream? Hopefully soon, but for now we just apply these 12 different patches as part of the build process and all is good.I have to say, I more often than not disagree with DHH’s hot takes, and I really, really don’t want to work with Ruby.
