@SDF Twitter refugee with 6700 followers there. I’ve been trying out a few servers (I’ll never think of “instances” as anything but what you get when you construct a Python or C++ class) and this seems like it’s “the one.” Nice and fast, and I’d like to play with the retro UNIX stuff on the sdf.org page sometime, too.Whoever it will be will get some modest $ support, too. That seems important for an environment like this.

@SDF Seems like this was the right choice of server for my new social media home. I saw the donate post and will keep that in mind in a week or two. Very mindful that an ad-free environment needs to be supported by users.

I ended my time on Twitter with 6700 people following what I had to say about #Covid being the worst pandemic in a hundred years and I’m not going to hide that terrible reality with some bland label that people can just scroll on past.P.S. Everybody, wear a good N95 respirator. It’s an airborne brain virus that’s still circulating about half as much as it was this summer, and with even less immune defenses against it.

All right #Mastodon, show this #twitterexodus refugee what you can do.Walked away from 6700 followers because I won't provide content (not directly, at least) or be in the same space as a destructive & dangerous narcissist. This new (for me) place is cool but I do miss being able to post a special #nature #photograph & know it will get seen thousands of times.I guess that's my #introduction. I rant about #covid #CovidIsNotOver & #LongCovid & I live in a beautiful place. With a foot of snow.

My browser is beeping a lot so something must be happening. Go ahead, I have plenty of #bandwidth to spare on my VPN. Continuing the #introduction, I've been talking to machines for 40 years. I progammed the web server for http://edsuom.com in #python using the #twisted framework. That was written in part by @glyph who I hope will share this with the other Twisted devs.I've written 2 books, about leaving my old #fundamentalist #cult , and another about #religion and #evolution.
