Honestly, I think nostr is in a holding pattern until Elon does something dumb to piss of the side thats comfortable with Twitter now. It'll happen. Right now, where would nostr pull new users from? The people who were comfortable under the old Twitter regime are fleeing to Bluesky, but there's no reason for them to come to nostr which is more of the wild west. They'll the "lock me down harder daddy" crowd, nostr is incompatible with their worldview.So nostr is going to have to pull from that other side on Twitter who is pretty comfy right now.

I saw Fenix Ammunition had an issue with Twitter the other day. I was hoping that would be a bigger thing and we could get the gun and 3d printing communities on here.In my mind, nostr's path was growing from bitcoin, to all cryptocurrency communities, to libertarians as a whole, to the right as a whole, and finally to some normies. Might have to rethink that progression.I will say its funny, theres a chunk of bitcoin twitter that doesn't like nostr, and there are some that use both, that don't post all their content here, like non-bitcoin stuff. Blows my mind. That's the stuff I want them to post.

My thinking was always, if you had the libertarians, you'd get hoppeans, and then its off to the races for the right. Who knows with the right, Gab has done some weird shit this year, I'm wondering if they are on shaky grounds. There might be some potential there.I will say, while Twitter isn't the ban happy playground it used to be, there are some areas where its worse. I do find the quality of my feed has gone down. It does everything in its power to put blue checks in your face. Basically if you aren't paying for Twitter you're experience isn't all that enjoyable. If Elon keeps squeezing for money that may be a enough to push some people out.I dunno, I'm still hopeful that nostr will break out of its bitcoin bubble but thats going to be a while.

I guess what gets me about Nostr is it's just sitting here, anyone can come up with just about anything to run on it. We're all going piss and moan about each other's coin of choice somewhere, but most people would rather do that on Twitter than go somewhere new potentially and use whatever coin they like. Nostr is heavy into bitcoin, but I give the Monero folks credit, at least they are trying with Nostr.

Ethereum is definitely not my thing, but if people want ERC20 zaps or stuff like that, I honestly think that would be good for Nostr. It's just sitting here, waiting for uses, I don't know why Amethyst hasn't been forked for a bazillion different uses.Is Farcaster still a thing? I vaguely remember that being something tied in with Ethereum, so that might be a hurdle.

It also causes issues when at an instance level, they decide to not federate with another instance, because basically 30% of the Fediverse decides to block you. On some level I get it, theres a lot of stuff on the Fediverse that really shouldn't see the light of day, but it does kind of work against the whole decentralized thing.
