@twylo I think the right approach is to try to find/build/do things that create similar feelings (not exactly the same ones) to what you remember. Carry the good parts of the past forward; don't dwell on them. Your memories are rose-colored anyway.

@protonprivacy @thestrangelet Hi there, hey, you don’t know me, I’m not a customer. I just wanted to say that while I knew OF you, I had never really formed an opinion about you. But for the past few weeks this unending series of tone-deaf fuck-ups has been all over my socials. *This* is how I’m meeting your company for the first time. The marketing message you’re sending to a LOT OF PEOPLE right now is that you cannot be trusted whatsoever. I hope this is helpful.

@phooky haha yes! It’s skeuomorphic in the most bizarrely self-defeating ways!

Can someone who is good at math help me understand how a data set can contain three billion unique nine-digit numbers?https://mashable.com/article/background-check-company-breached-3-billion-affected

@bear_lab Do you mean these MK3 source files or something else? https://github.com/prusa3d/Original-Prusa-i3/tree/MK3S/Printed-Parts

@bear_lab I don’t know if all of Prusa’s engineers use the same CAD software, but they probably chose STEP because it can be imported by most tools, and it seems more “open” than a format that would require you to own something expensive and proprietary. But they also model a lot of parts in OpenSCAD and that code is provided, and I believe it’s the original working source (maybe cleaned up a little). The code quality could be better; lots of magic numbers.

@bear_lab I guess I’m so used to seeing models posted with CC-SA or other “open” licenses yet providing nothing but STL files that having any kind of editable format seems like a luxury, but yeah I can see the need for the original source if you’re designing something as involved as, say, the Bear frame. But it seems more like an issue of priorities than a philosophical disagreement, and I hope they get better at this given the present IP environment. Thanks for the perspective.

@bear_lab As for the extruder spring specs, I happen to have those, because I asked support once:Wire diameter: 0.8mmCenter diameter: 4.9 mmFree length: 15mmCompressed length: 10mmMaterial: DIN 2076-BSame springs as used in the Nextruder and the MMU2/3, I’m pretty sure. The other part specs might not matter enough (or change too frequently) to be published, but the community could fill in the gaps collaboratively if there’s enough need for it.

@twylo Yeah it's terrible. You can turn it off, though, and get the previous UI back, using the “...” menu at the upper right. You have to do this for each mail account. Completely irresponsible of them to enable any of this awful shit by default.

Donating to Trump’s inauguration was also a test.So far Tim Cook has not just failed every such test, but failed them eagerly. He needs to go. https://mastodon.social/@chockenberry/113992103666125510

@art That sounds like very wet filament, not dry. Moisture makes it brittle (the water molecules fill in spaces in the polymer chains so they don’t have room to flex).

@jimray @anildash I think that framing has it a bit backwards. The *entire* reason this tech exists, and has essentially all of the available capital invested in it despite paltry revenue, is that it’s seen by wealthy dullards and psychopaths as a chance to destroy the value of creative and knowledge work; to enclose the “commons” of upward mobility through science and education (both of which they’re also actively working to destroy). It is anything but normal. https://circumstances.run/@davidgerard/115415020604832127

You’re absolutely right — you are Pagliacci. It would certainly be difficult for you to attend your own performance! I should not have given such paradoxical advice, and I apologize deeply for the error. There is no excuse for my failure.Nevertheless, comedy is a powerful healing force. My recommendation is to seek out live entertainment. For example, great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up. 🔗 Sponsored Reply (Great Clown Productions, Ltd.)
