@Wolf480pl All three of them allow dashes, eg. -xf works. Also on the BSDs, Linux, macOS, etc…

@Wolf480pl Ah sorry, confusion on my part! Thought you refered to AIX, HP-UX and *Solaris*. I have never touched a SCO Unix server.

@sir Long time ago, when CVS was king. For servers it's better to deploy/rollback through Salt, Ansible, etc. and keep that config under version control.

@sir Once had a black tomcat that did this, named Nelson. He got so used to resting on my shoulders in front of the computer that I could go to the bathroom with him, then take the garbage out, and finally even go to work together, a 1 hour commute by bus and trolley. But we only did this once, as I was frequently stopped by kids wanting to pet him. They thought we were working for a circus or something… :-]

@martijnbraam Do you think it would be usable for a sysadmin as a daily driver under Alpine? Thanks!

@martijnbraam Great, thank you! I thought there was plenty of work ahead to make it run Alpine as good as the official Debian-based image…

@sir Arch Linux on production servers sounds masochistic. This is from someone who mantained Gentoo servers for a living for years. (So I guess I would kind of enjoy that!)At my current place we use Arch as a canary in the mine. Updated regularly to warn us when OpenSSL or other upstream teams make changes that break our product. Nothing beats Arch Linux at that... (OK, maybe Fedora, but haven't tried that in a long time.)

@sir Works as advertised, only had one minor issue in a few years of use. Their ZFS snapshots are really cool, but the rotation scheme is dumb. They accepted my suggestions to improve it, not sure if they'll ever follow up though.

@solene An even more striking comparison is the one between the commands for suspending a system from command line as a regular user. Here's the Linux version:dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=org.freedesktop.login1 /org/freedesktop/login1 "org.freedesktop.login1.Manager.Suspend" boolean:true

@dos Impressive, thanks! There's also a command line switch to enable the better looking overlay scrollbar.

@agx Wow! Just yesterday was thinking how nice it would be to have my mobile Linux OS to switch automatically between dark and light themes based on the light sensor readings... ;-]
