@urusan My first thoutht is that it should be handled by the owner of surveilled space. In public space, where we all are owners, we all must be able to decide whether and to what extent (video, face recognition, sound) our shared space is monitored. Ideally on municipal or even smaller level. And if none is chosen, it must be banned for all institutions.

@ademalsasa 1. Following hashtags, maybe with customisable notifications. Tusky sort of allows it, but it seems to search hashtags on demand, only when I open designated tab. Web ui doesnt.I'd like to actively follow specific topics.2. Option to manually select the language of your toot. I sometimes post in Lithuanian, which is not auto recognized, and feel bad about spamming to majority of my followers, who cannot understand it.I hear auto recognition is far from perfect in supported languages too. 3. Sharing to selected audience by topics of interest. Like diaspora's aspects or google's circles. In theory it is super productive, improving quality of content and saving time. Also I'm not trying to build my digital identity here, I just want to exchange meaningful ideas. And I hate digging through toots far beyond my range of interests.

@kzimmermann correct. For users good OS should be boring and invisible.

@jeffcliff @Gargron@mastodon.social @Gargron@mastodon.online Even if exaggeration, there is some sense. Maybe some simpler solution is possible, where each instance wouldnt have to assemble blacklists or graylists? It is tedious for admins, but much worse if not unintelligible for users. Maybe a model similar to cc licences [compatible/incompatible servers]? Or a simplified scale of tolerance? Would not make fediverse more interconnected, but at least would make sense

@floppy Moving accounts between instances is essential for network reliability and sustainability. I'd love to see it as a standard feature.

@aral For example, I miss sustainability of my labour which I put into configuring os: from software selection to accounts sync. I hate repeating that drudge each time I install linux. It could quite simply persist across machines and distributions. For now it seems that this labour is understood as pure joy that devs cant think of giving up.

@Gooby535 @c0ri @rysiek I never undrestood being proud of one's nationality. We didn't choose it, and we are not responsible for what happened in the country before we were born. We got it by chance. Even being thankful that this chance fell precisely here, and not somewhere in China (which is most likely), is a bit chauvinist. I think we should firstly appreciate being born at all. And if we manage to be kind to the people around us, we can be proud as well.

@PaulaToThePeople @yunohost #yunohost is brilliant. I'm just starting to use it, but already happy with Nextcloud, FreshRSS, Wallabag, and currently listening to my music via Navidrome. And the community rocks - just today I got productive support on matrix in like 15 minutes.Feeling rich.

I think I'm starting to understand why using term "special operation" instead of war is so essential for kremlin. By Russian law, names of killed participants of special operations are a state secret. As opposed to war, where deaths of soldiers have to be reported, bodies decently buried, families informed an compensated. This way kremlin thinks it can afford countless casualties. This is why mobile krematoriums are needed. This is why bodies are left in the fields and ordinary soldiers are forbidden to approach them. This is why russian media is prosecuted for using the term "war" instead of "special operation". They probably also hope that it will somehow block legaly classifying their actions as war crimes. I will not.I'm not an expert and I have assembled this understanding from numerous fragmented non-English sources, so please doublecheck and correct. Also, share expert content if you know any.

@elgg this list strangely dismisses the easiest solutions to self-host, like yunohost. I'm using it a few years already. With a big drawback of limited (even if large) apps selection, I'm still not looking back to my pure debian/apache setup. Few people have that much time.
