@silverwizard i'm far from an expert on this but wikipedia claims solaris containers/zones were circa 2005. i also kinda remember hearing about them at the time. rfork and plan9 namespaces predated me by far and according to this (http://doc.cat-v.org/plan_9/4th_edition/papers/names) they were published around 1993. :). of course the scope of isolation that they offer is different. and you can argue that solaris was a "production system". Plan9 just seems to have tried to address the problem in its design.

Today, driving back home, i was thinking that i have been using #OpenBSD almost 20 years now, as my daily driver. I was looking back at how easy it was to have vmd run alpine or debian for the occasional project at work or 9front for pleasure. Having firefox, acpi capabilities and being able write in go, scheme or even rust.Quality man pages. It makes my computing experience understandable and dignified. So thank you all devs for your devotion to stability and simplicity. The result is amazing.

@kzimmermann hey there! don't worry, give the beautiful NetBSD some time to click! :) you see, it is possible that NetBSD striving to be ultra portable, doesn't want to make any assumptions on what type of terminal you have connected into it! Try to type the command stty echoe echok . that should fix your linekill and delete characters. then you can make sure your TERM variable is set to something recognizable. try to start by export TERM=vt100 (also https://www.netbsd.org/docs/guide/en/chap-cons.html) :)
