@swansinflight checked in, and can report that Brena is well, and has transcended the desire for social media altogether. Happily biking, photographing and coffee-ing. Just enjoying not seeing so many opinions every day.

@swansinflight Solid thoughts. I too can't figure all the 'engagement' junkies. It's a fully ego driven exercise. One can only really engage in a certain number of conversations at a time. As for searching for 'news', absolutely this is not that place.

@KingInTheTron @explorergrace @strypey @JeffHowell @stargazer Better hook us up with whatever that thing is... part of the fediverse, or some newfangled extra thingy?

@davemosk @lightweight How do you figure that? These lock-in tech decisions and deals are made at the top levels of the ministry of education. Aint nothing to do with educators. We don't get single thing to comment on. I guarantee that there's no consideration made about these choices on the basis of 'tech education'- it'll all be about file and document storage and sharing, at a lowest common denominator (and dollar) level.

@strypey 'ABW'... anyone but Winston. Nats are mad keen for power, and want more options than 'David made me do it' on the far right. Witness the regular trotting out of 'the Greens should make a coalition with the Nats', as though the greens are just about Tesla subsidies and organic vegetables (from a Nat voter perspective).

@strypey I sense your betrayed feelings.... But as you point out, it's a serious long shot, with most of what TOP stand for being diametrically opposed to what ACT have as policy. And this move isn't to give the Nats an alternative to ACT, it's as an alternative to NZ first.

@thomholwerda Source please? Is this the one probably cut by a Chinese flagged, Russian captained shop from a few weeks back, or a new one?

@imalcolm @futurebird Being his first novel, it put it out there as to how far off the beaten track he was prepared to go. Nothing he wrote after shocked quite as much, but he never lapsed into boring normalness either. Enjoyed every book he wrote, but for different reasons every time.

@jalefkowit If they want reliability and bandwidth, yes they do. Also, can push HD video down that same cabling. Absolute futureproofing.

@strypey You can have a nuclear power plant once you have a proper plan to look after the waste for 10,000 years. No? Ok, no plant allowed.

@arisuwashere @rob possible need for something like VS code at higher level digital courses, otherwise most educational applications are web based now for as much as we can. Even in music, online recording is do-able and pretty darn capable.
