       @futurebird @marshray @neckspike @AT1ST ironically, the only way to get any real value out of these tools is to understand this point at a deep level, until the underlying technology massively changes (world models etc)I *know this* and have fallen into the trap because it’s so easy to forget when the language sounds plausible.Passing the Turing test turned out to be a critically important thing, but not for the reasons technologists thought – it really can impact our ability to be critical.

       @futurebird @ainmosni a sizable portion of people do not have appreciation for the arts, and a lot of that is due to ignorance not malice.There is variation on an individual level as well, e.g. some people don’t enjoy music which to me is like saying I don’t enjoy breathing.There has to be a willful choice to grow and many won’t ever have that opportunity or seize it, which is also why a lot of music taste freezes for people in their early teens.The reality is ‘slop’ is enough.l for them.

       @futurebird @ainmosni I’m a musician (though not for a living) so yes very much, particularly since a most of the income to be made in that industry now for normal artists is via sync licensing for commercials etc. which is going to be prime content that in-house AI will dominate. We’ll get a regression to the mean across the board, which I know you’re very familiar with. Some “muzak” is actually good and I’ll die on that hill.
