@futurebird Completely agree, effort & learning should move you forward. It's tool making, part of being a fun, lazy human. Make something to do what is boring, repetitive or prone to human errors. Started with flint napping to save wearing your teeth down, ends up with programing a calculator to plot a curve to save pulling your hair out.Might take more time than the individual task but teaches about how capable you are. Gives you more time & a better view for the next insight.

@stux yep, early GenX here, I was playing with basic electronics at 10 and through into 68000 and Z80 stuff.Lots of basic stuff learned and a view of the world that we can each do any of it if we want. Just time and interest needed. It's still all there in view if we all want to look, but some have lost the taste for finding out and doing your own stuff. It's like most of us don't make tools any more, which is odd for a species once defined as The Tool Maker.
