It’s 2025 and people are still promoting their NFT projects. That was two tech bubbles ago, dudes. Try to keep up.

Ugh, two more walls full of NFT ads on the way home. So gross to see this type of ad around our neighborhood.

@quillmatiq I love to see folks trying to decentralize BSKY, but I'm still so confused on why anyone would build on ATproto when so other options exist that aren't tied to a corporation and are already in mass adoption. I feel like I'm missing something.

A bit of nostalgia from back when products served their users’ needs, not the other way around. Drawn with MagicInk and a Pentel Presto. #Clippy

I absolutely love receiving messages like this, and I'm happy to see friends from the #yoyo community dipping their toes into the fediverse! In this message, @motmot is asking if there good for yo-yoers, so I thought I'd ask for suggestions. Any #skilltoy or #juggling themed Mastodon servers out there for him to check out?

Wayback inaccuracies: Sometimes I'll be looking through archived pages on the Wayback Machine and notice a capture isn't actually from the date that is listed. For example, this archive from July 2023 doesn't line up with my personal captures of this same website site from that time. Some of the text even mentions events that had not yet happened, like meetings in 2024.Has anyone else run into issues with archived pages that did not come from the dates listed?

This Battlestar Galactica quote feels more relevant than ever… so I turned it into a sticker! Grab the frakkin' file from my site if you'd like to print your own batch of stickers. https://docpop.org/2025/09/battlestar-galactica-and-the-danger-of-militarized-policing/ #BattlestarGalactica

There's a great energy in the Mission tonight. Slow Shotwell Street is filled with kids and candy. Same with Valencia St. And so many bicyclists out riding in costumes. The weather is nice and the vibes are fantastic. #MissionDistrict #SanFranccisco

I’ve been developing something called the Human-Made License, a Creative Commons–style way to certify that creative work was made without genAI.I’m looking for feedback from artists, designers, and writers before the public launch. DM me if you’d like to take a look at the first draft.

ChatGPT launched three years ago. Now the web is filling with slop.We can rewild it, but we'll need to get creative...Today I’m launching The Human-Made Project, a simple and decentralized way to label creative works as being made by a human, not by AI. https://thehumanmade.org/

No apps. No blockchain. No accounts. The Human-Made Project is a Creative-Commons inspired method for marking work as being made without the use of generative AI. Creators can choose when to use it. Fans know what it means. The community keeps it honest. The simplest tools are the strongest.

Happy solstice. For folks who struggle with long, dark winter days, remember it only gets brighter from here. It’s subtle at first, but soon each day will be noticeably brighter than the last.

Why aren't dog cafes as big a thing as cat cafes? We have at least 3 cat cafes in SF, but I don't think I've ever seen a similar concept but with dogs.

New phishing scam pretending to be from an official Mastodon account. Mastodon does not send out verification requests like this. So don't click the link if you receive a message like this, just report it as spam.

I'm interested in getting a few Meshtastic devices to stay in touch and coordinate with friends if needed. I don't know much about the protocol and was hoping to hear advice on where to get started and any other recommendations. Would also love to hear personal stories or views on Meshtastic versus Meshcore.

Some friends and I picked up a few Heltec V2 and V3 nodes with Meshtastic on them. Thanks for the recommendations. There's a bit of a learning curve, but I'm glad we are figuring that out early. My hope is that each of our local friends have a mesh device in their household and some experience with how to use it.
