Apologies everyone, but text is still not vertically centered (with custom line heights) in jump labels and the scrollback indicator, in #foot 1.15.2.Despite what the changelog says.I had to revert it due to it breaking CSD titles. But forgot to remove the entry from the changelog. The next release *will* have a fix!

#arch and #artix has several variants of their #emacs package; with and without AOT, with and without Wayland support and a terminal only package. But they don't have the combo I want: terminal only with AOT (i.e emacs-nox-nativecomp).What to do? Hack the PKGBUILD of course!

@YaLTeR awesome to see! I've been looking for just about anything resembling latency tests for terminals on Wayland for years.

(add-hook 'grep-setup-hook (lambda () (setenv "GREP_COLOR")))Finally figured out how to silence grep warning about GREP_COLOR being deprecated, when run from within #emacs

The glibc-debug package on #artix debuginfod server hasn't been updated. glibc package is on 2.38-2, debuginfo has 2.37-3.This breaks #valgrind. And _why_ doesn't artix provide debug packages in their repositories? I'm very close to switching distro just because of this.

Have I understood this correctly?#runit only support service ready detection through polling (via the 'check' script)? There's no way for the service to push a notification? As an example, both s6 and dinit has a 'ready' FD the service can write to. Once it does, s6/dinit considers the service 'up'.

What's the idiomatic way, in #voidlinux, to install software from versioned controlled sources? That is, building "latest main/master"rather than a specific release?Something similar to "foo-git" AUR packages. As far as I can tell, xbps doesn't really support this use case (though I hope I'm wrong, and have missed something obvious)? So what do people do?

I somehow convinced my boss to get my a 200+ DPI monitor. For the first time in my life, I can comfortably use vector fonts... I've always used bitmap fonts because I get headache of fuzzy, antialiased fonts. This monitor has a high enough DPI that the font actually look good. So, what are good, crisp monospaced terminal/coding fonts? Using IBM Plex Mono for now, and like it so far.It has to have italic and bold variants, and legible oO0lII, obviously.

Looks like #foot 1.16.0 refuses to start on Linux, on kernels before 6.3.https://codeberg.org/dnkl/foot/issues/1514There's unfortunately no workarounds available; your can upgrade your kernel, downgrade foot, or manually patch and recompile foot.Or wait for me to do a patch release, which I'll do as soon as possible :)

What happens when you rush out a patch release? You introduce yet another regression 🙄😔https://codeberg.org/dnkl/foot/pulls/1521Since this is not a critical issue, I'll wait a couple of days, to see if more regressions turn up. Then there'll be a 1.16.2 patch release for #foot

Today I'm moving out from the apartment that's been my home for the last ten years.Next week I'm moving into my very first house (the bank's house really 🙄). It's exciting, and scary at the same time 😅.

If you develop a #terminal application with OSC-8 hyperlink support, please, please, please assign unique IDs, and *don't* rely on the terminal auto-assigning an ID.Not providing an ID, _almost_ makes OSC-8 useless - you might just as well print the URL without the hyperlink escape.

There's an open PR for #neovim to add support for the new private mode 2048 - in-band window resize notifications. If done properly, this _should_ get rid of all size mismatches between neovim and the terminal window, when, for example, starting neovim together with the terminal (i.e. terminal-app -e nvim) on, say, a tiling VM.Lets hope more applications adopt this! And yes, #foot has support for mode 2048 (master branch, not yet released).

Ended up writing my own notify-send after all. Written in C.Depends on dbus only (i.e not libnotify).Supports everything notify-send and dunstify combined supports. What's a good name for it (if I decide to publish it)?
