@stfn Uwielbiam takie miejsca. Pomimo mieszkania w niewielkim mieście rzygam nim, a po wyjazdach do większych dosłownie "choruję" i teraz już tylko czekam, aż będę mógł znowu przenieść się na wieś.

@ErikUden as with everything. If Americans are <insert almost anything here> - their government is not doing anything. But if anyone from any other country is doing <insert the same thing>, then it’s real shit and they have to act. TikTok - bad, Instagram Reels or Youtube Shorts - goodOpenAI, Google, etc. using copyrighted materials? Nothing. Someone else is doing the same? Real shit.

@stfn definitely. EU should invest A LOT to break this dependence on US tech. And the best thing is that we already have a lot of alternatives, we „just” need to invest in them.

@stfn I found it loooong ago, when it was starting. I'm checking it on regular basis, and it's nice that there are more and more services added.I was planning to move from American services I'm still using to one of listed there, but it was always "I'll do it later". And now, this "later" has finally come.

@niqwithq @stfn I’m differentiating American closed-source for-profit software from open-source software. So I use American password manager (Bitwarden) but only because it’s open source. If they would close the source, I will switch in a minute. Same with Firefox, I’d switch if it’d get shady. So for me Bitwarden, Firefox, Signal, etc. are perfectly ok. Also if the data are encrypted (like in iOS and icloud) then I can accept it, if I have to.

@niqwithq @stfn But in general, I’m using those alternatives almost exclusively. There are just a few exceptions where I’m using those American for-profit ones, but sometimes simply because I can’t switch them (like WhatsApp) just because everyone else I want to communicate with is also using it. Or simply because there is no real alternative to it (like LinkedIn). I also use iOS and its stock apps, so it’s American, but the alternative is Google, so also American

@stfn I didn't know this was a fact, but I saw it recently. My kids are asking me about the stars and planets, so I also got interested in them again. When we are looking at the night sky I saw this flickering from time to time, but I thought it's just my eyes 😅

@stfn IMO brakuje im tu po prostu ludzi.Nie pamiętam już kto, w każdym razie jakiś dev, który przyszedł tu wraz z pierwszą dużą migracją w 2022. Promował swój dość popularny soft FOSS, tworzył boty, latało to na jego własnej instancji, generalnie "wsiąkł" i się starał.A potem zniknął.Znalazłem go w czasie swojego testowania Bluesky i o to zapytałem. Odpowiedział wprost, że stracił motywację, bo jest tu po prostu pusto.Mi się tu podoba i się stąd nie ruszam, ale jednak się z nim zgadzam.
