@flashre @EscBoy There are so many cryptocurrencies which are just essentially stocks, except without any of the protection you have when actually investing in the stock market. So few serve a purpose beyond putting money in them and hoping to make a return. Though there are a handful of functional currencies that have a purpose outside their monetary value.Monero is the only cryptocurrency I feel is worth using for actual finance purposes. Private by default is what all cryptocurrencies should strive for, but in reality cryptocurrency (outside of monero) is less private than pretty much every other form of payment.If you give me your crypto address for pretty much anything except Monero, I can see your wallet. I can see how much money is in that wallet, what you have spent, who you have sent money to and basically the entire history of your coins. Monero is what people think crypto is.100% agree with the original post, by the way, KYC is not for me. I actively avoid services that require KYC.

@RehnSturm256 My day has been well, hope yours has been well too. I have been trying Cordy Ceps and Lions Mane mushroom extract and it seems to be improving my moods and such. Been about a week now, so think it’s fair to say it’s been making a difference. I’ve been sleeping REALLY well lately.

@RehnSturm256 Yeah, they’re supposedly very good, they are referred to as “function foods”. No regulation on them, but to an extent I think that might be a good thing. If that makes sense.I’ve attached a picture of the alleged effects of these things. @Lil_Weiss @RehnSturm256 I used to wear protective eye wear in public (cause I only have 1 eye, so it was to keep my one good eye safe.) I would always have kids tapping on it, lol. I would tell them “the fish don’t like it when you tap on the glass!”They’d get a kick out of it. This reminded me of that.Why can’t I playfully pull on your pony tail, huh? So, I recently became aware of something which is kind of sad, but also not relevant in 99% of cases.A while ago we were attempting to shrink our DB size, and we tried something which deleted what, we thought, were remote posts over 1-year-old.I figured this would be fine and most likely these posts aren’t being requested and likely they’d be able to be refetched.This did save us some space on the DB and seemed to work fine. However, what I am noticing now is that it did not work at all how expected.First thing’s first the posts which were deleted do not seem to be able to be refetched by the instance.Next, it was not limited to remote instances.This means a few posts which were posted in The Shota House’s infancy are lost and irrecoverable, atleast for The Shota House.However instances that these posts federated to still have copies of these posts and thus they are still propagating throughout the fediverse, even if we can’t interact with them.Media is even backed up for instances like baest which have a media proxy enabled.So the old posts are not lost forever.Overall, this shouldn’t affect most people on the instance, if it did effect you, I’m very sorry. We’ll try to do better in the future.Thanks to some other instances I will be reposting some of my important old posts so that they may remain where they originated.

@RehnSturm256 @hispanicweeb We have a super old version of the DB (from July 10th) but too much has happened since then. I would rather keep the new posts that have been added than go back to July 10th’s posts and keep a few months of posts which are over a year old. lol. I did try restoring it super briefly to try and fix something (some old statuses are still technically pinned even if we can’t see them. Seems to mostly effect me. lol)In the end we learn from our mistakes, we will try to do better.

@RehnSturm256 @hispanicweeb You likely didn’t contribute to much of the bloat. In reality, the bloat was likely caused by federation of posts older than the Shota House instance itself due to settings I originally had. These settings are good for a new instance to get federated, but not so good later on, lol.Basically a bunch of junk remote content. Which was the original plan of what to purge, we didn’t expect it would effect local posts.
