@jcs - for some reason all I get is -23015 errors hitting the FSX host (openFailed). It worked one time randomly. Even went from MacTCP 2.0.4 to 2.1 and no help. Not DNS. #subtext

@jcs I'm talking to them via element and they said nothing has been down, i'm trying to get specific if anything on their side has changed.

So I ignored Rule 1 at my own peril and suffered the consequences. If you are wondering, rule #1 is: - it's the firewall, Meanwhile, rule #2 is: - it's DNS. It was my local Subtext 'proxy box' to block telnet abuse that was doing something weird with FidoNet connections. At least I got MacTCP 2.1 out of this.(@jcs I'm good now)#subtext #macintosh #fidonet #fsx

@jcs I was premature. Further testing showed that it connects the first time I start Subtext, following connections also fail.I am also routing thru a linux host using iptables and seeing these issues.

@jcs If you traceroute or look at the FSX node, there is a bunch of virtualization and VPS hops going on. I wonder if we can get a US node setup. I will ask.

@ActionRetro This is bad news- FujiNet's working HTTP client (Apple2/Atari) depends on FF for any web retrieval. If you are still blocked I have some ideas (I did something simpler for my BBS).

@ActionRetro @TritTriton try using the openDNS resolvers? 208.67.222.222 208.67.220.220 (note they are owned by oracle now I think)

I have conquered UTF8 and forced it to revert back to proper 1990s encodings. The next issue of MDN will be much cleaner. I also may do a version for mastodon, it will however be larger.Ping me if you want a print with today's final edition.#marchintosh #globalPrint
