       I hope Linus Torvalds taking a break and going to therapy will have a huge impact on people who are opposed to Code of Conducts and who think that being vile and terrible to other human beings will improve the quality of these person's contributions. There's hope.

       @tauli in my experience it was just easier to be who you want to be on Internet or to show affiliation with something that's personally important you by having a certain handle and a fitting avatar next to it. Back then it didn't have much to do with security, except of course for minorities, but those communities (like e.g. Fetlife) still mostly exist with anonymous handles.

       @tauli there also was no such thing as swatting in the 90s and early 2000s. That just wasn't a risk anyone ever expected to exist. Your biggest fear back then was being scammed, being stood up when meeting in "real life" or while dating.

       @selea @astro GCP supports IPv6 at the edge for their Loadbalancers: https://cloud.google.com/load-balancing/docs/ipv6Sure, it'd be nice to have internal IPv6 but since they give you a VPC per project, I don't know what you'd need IPv6 in your LAN for.

       @selea @astro I'm not against v6, btw. I dig it. But I never found a valid reason to use it for local traffic, especially now where I don't really have to care about IP addresses anymore, thanks to Kubernetes.
