Hi!I'm Daniel Goldsmith, tinkerer, enthusiast, I wrote nanopub - a micropub server.
I often post on political topics, and I think technology is inherently political. I've spent a life involved in activism and political struggles.
I'm a huge sff fan, and try to keep a personal record of my reading by posting about them. I used to do reviews, but the stress and anxiety was too much.I used to run my own fediverse "instance" at soc.ascraeus.org, but got burned out on the process, and almost stopped posting as a result. I asked for a recommendation, and @raye pointed me in this direction.
That's me. Looking forward to a new conversation.

@shadowfacts system dark is lovely, and simple, but isn’t available for older devices.Tbh, if you already are doing a systemdark scheme, then an option to choose that independently of the system setting would suffice admirably.As to why, I am afflicted by floaters in my vision, making white backgrounds almost impossible to read on screens.

@IceWolf @alcinnz but this is a *failing* of the open source model. If the requirements of open source mean that you can’t stop your software being used by Nazis, then there’s clearly something majorly fucking wrong with open source as a concept.

@EagleEyes it’s a basic difference between :birdsite: and masto. When you compose a post, there’s an option to put a Content Warning or subject on the post. This allows people to decide if they want to read the post or not. Most importantly, you can put any text you want on the CW.Your posts on us politics are possibly triggering/upsetting to many people. Putting a CW of “uspol” allows people who are interested in us politics to click through and read what you’re posting.
