This lovely open access book is also distributed as MathML-native HTML and (to my surprise!) with some help from LaTeXML."Artificial Intelligence 3E: foundations of computational agents", by David L. Poole & Alan K. Mackworthhttps://artint.info/3e/html/ArtInt3e.html#mathml #latexml #openaccess

Fantastic news for Open Science infrastructure:arXiv receives a combined $10 million grant from the Simons Foundation and NSF to "migrate to the cloud and modernize its code to ensure reliability, fault tolerance and accessibility for researchers."https://news.cornell.edu/stories/2023/10/research-repository-arxiv-receives-10m-upgrades#arXiv #openscience

📢 arXiv just landed HTML articles!Try them out, report issues you run into, and expect a gradual process for increasing coverage. They're starting small - HTML for new articles only. That complements today's ar5iv nicely, which lags 1 month behind. #arxiv #ar5iv #openscience #openaccess

Speaking of: ar5iv is now on a clear path to getting phased out, becoming a simple redirect service to the official HTML pages. This is the best outcome I could have hoped for!arXiv was always the best actor to manage the publishing platform pieces, while we have plenty to do in the LaTeXML conversion realm.

🤔 Why is this happening? The chief motivation for 2023 is improving accessibility of arXiv's collection of articles. For more details, see arXiv's introduction at:https://info.arxiv.org/about/accessible_HTML.html

@ricci @technicat I wouldn't say Typst is doing LaTeX syntax for math. It is certainly using a brief input syntax for math, as such tools should. And it may be the best stab at a replacement system in the last decade.
