@dirsigler @sn0w @MNNHNewsEnglish And no one is interested in disclosing how these #VPN vendors lure non-technical people into paying for a #FalseSenseOfSecurity ?

@ariadne @seanking I think Microsoft knows very well what they're doing with open source and their goal is *not* to make open-source better.https://ghuntley.com/fracture/

@SmudgeTheInsultCat my shaving brush ("blaireau" in French, literally the French word for Badger too) looks definitively more like the one on the left picture, but it's also no longer in a state where it can demand money 😀

@simon of the processes don't set their own process groups you can usually just kill the entire process group (I can't recall the exact number to use, man 2 kill has the answer...)

@vik @angrylinus There's options in fstab for user devices like cdrom... What you probably want is the users options, possibly combined with noauto. You may have to pair it with a udev rule to set the proper permissions (check first, you OS may actually have implemented permissions in a better way with polkit policies...)

There is something very wrong with Android work profiles. Mine enforce a separate pin for work, and allow for fingerprint unlock. For some reason after a while they stop working (I don't have this issue with the main phone profile) and today after 3 failed attempts, one failure before it asks for the pin instead, I went to the work profiles settings, and using my **main phone lock** changed the fingerprints, which I immediately used to unlock work apps!!1/2

Not only it resets the attempts count, as I failed at least a 4th time with the new fingerprints, but WTH A WORK PROFILE PIN IS FOR IF YOU CAN USE THE PHONE PIN TO CHANGE WORK UNLOCK FINGERPRINTS ???Seriously, what were Android developers thinking??? #Android #security2/2

@jwz @david_chisnall I think the issue has more to do with the current app distribution model. Most users will never install an app outside their phone vendor's app store, and in fact for iPhone it's almost impossible to do so. Even if Signal resisted or offered direct app downloads, blocking from the app stores would affect most users.

@whitequark What I really like is matching directly object or property types in the case statements. ex:```pythonmatch fruit_obj: case Apple(color=Red()): print("I'm a red apple") case Apple(): print("I'm an apple") case Orange(): print("I'm an orange") case _: print(f"Unknown fruit type: {type(fruit_obj)}")```P.S. match case statements were introduced in 3.10.

@whitequark P.P.S. I was wondering why my client did not render markdown, then I realized I wasn't using the one that renders it, and also your posts were screenshots! 🤣
