@kino I've never used hashtags in my life. My understanding is that the hashtags are what people use to search on. So, I add them for things I wouldn't mind talking about.Like #usenet, for instance. I'm seeing a lot of my friends from those days around. A bunch of #rastb5m folks. #sciDotSpace and #NewsDotGroups

@ryan @nick @kino There's logistical reasons to block the whole site. The amount of data this churns out is amazing.Any site that doesn't control it's users is likely to be spewing binaries as well, that could end up chewing up tons of bandwidth and disk.So, blocking them is probably a good deal. One other thing, if you have a room with 10 people in it and a Nazi joins them what do you have? 11 Nazis.

@Framasoft I just discovered #Framasoft and #mobilzon It's a federated #meetUp kind of thing.I don't know how active it is, the last post on their #mastodon page was about a year ago.This sounds useful in any event. Does anyone know about it. Gotta love the #fediverse

@ericbrookfield you don't have to. You can be on any instance you want and move to another place easily.The instance is always authoritative, however toot.cafe isn't vouching for your name being real, however with one like NYTimes.com would.
