I wrote a short blog post on how to use the DEBUG in PC-DOS 1.0 to write a hello world application in machine code. #retro https://dellagustin.github.io/retro-computers/2023/06/26/hello-world-on-dos-1.html

Hey @dave , the part where you talked about the duality of loving the fun part of IT and hating the struggles it comes with it really resonated with me, I feel that all the time.A side note, I've started the workflow to comment from https://podcastindex.org/podcast/920666 - every time I see that comments feature and how easy it makes to reply, man I'm proud of the teamwork we put to make that happen, such a sweet user experience now.

@dave my tip is not to ask "did you do x", rather "tell me exactly what you did".

@dave been there. When it does not work it is often very hard to troubleshoot. I had to implement xml signature and encryption (both ways) a few years ago based on some low level crypto libs, it was harder than it should be, for sure

@dave I'm definitively not a fan o guids that require a third party resolver. I'll always prefer a URL instead, accepting the downside that it may break in the future.

@dave something to consider for "verifying" people mentioned on the feed: do it like mastodon does, delegate it, the appointed URL should return Metadata indicating the person is ok with being mentioned on that episode or feed. Not at all perfect, but for me that's the best "value for complexity" that you can get for this problem.https://opensource.com/article/22/11/verified-mastodon-website

@dave I'm not sure I understood it well, but please don't give up on cross-app comments with ActivityPub, I still think this is the way to go, even if it takes time.

@dave On OPML, it could be extended to include data such as: episodes in progress, listened episodes, favourited episodes, bookmarks, playlists, etc... to allow for portability, but we would need a dedicated namespace to extend it for that, wouldn't it? Should we start working on that?

@adam @dave I used the index the other they to reply star posting a comments. I love when you talk the comments in the index page. I'm really proud at myself for implementing that (with a ton of help from other member of our community).

@Todd_Blubrry I see most of the replies here going into the NOSTR, but I am on the side of the fence that prefers if we build the cross-app comments on top of the socialInteract tag with ActivityPub.To show how that works, I contributed to podcastindex.org in the past so people can see how it works there.cc @dave @adam

@Todd_Blubrry I also discovered yesterday that PowerPress already supports the social interact, so I started playing around with it for my own podcast, @fdboteco , what is missing for me is to see how I would show the replies to my "root comment" on my episode page on WordPress, is there already an easy solution for that? Part of the future vision of PowerPress, or out of scope and should be implemented in another plugin by someone else?@dave @adam

@Todd_Blubrry @fdboteco @dave @adam I would like to start contributing implementations to consume the comments on the player's sides, but I need to sort out some other stuff before I can do that at the moment (get rid of tasks on other projects)

@Todd_Blubrry one more thing, currently PowerPress only allows one socialInteract tag. It would be nice if people could use more than one per episode, for different types, like Lightning + ActivityPub.
