It's the height of ridiculousness that even in the brink of 2020 one has to explain how reservation is not a poverty alleviation program but about representation. This 'ignorance' is not organic, it's intentionally sustained by those who were in power all these years.It's not like this distinction is so nuanced that people can't understand it. It's just that they don't want to understand it and more importantly, they don't want others to understand it.

Just look at the etiquette of Kerala's Education Minister sitting down with the kids offering respects to a historian. Something which you don't see often in Indian politics, unfortunately. Not just because they don't have the proper etiquette, but also because they don't meet historians, at least not real ones.

If the 2018 ruling stays, Pinarayi Vijayan govt is duty bound to facilitate women entry in the upcoming #Sabarimala season. The right wing (BJP, Congress & others) will concoct another session of violent drama to milk the situation. Why can't the SC stay the 2018 ruling if it's "confused" about the decision?
