       @thor It strikes me this dynamic - smaller is better - describes the optimal situation for a number of ecosystems. Economics, in particular. #smallbusinesses, independent entrepreneurs in local markets are far better for local communities and economic justice than monopolies. We gravitate towards the one-size-fits-all monopoly, "walmart twitter" social media. I think we should explore federations of independent smaller entities in economics as in social media.

       @thor totally! my mind always goes to #economics bc I think today's lefties default to socialism without understanding that there is a sweet spot in #capitalism where it's a win-win - where supply & demand are satisfied without excessive exploitation. as you describe, you can always move to another instance and still participate in the social economy here because there is  choice and no monopoly control. the #smallbusiness ecosystem shld be proactively privileged in the same way & we forget that

       @elliswyatt @thor nope, it's not. There are a lot of selfish brutes in the world that don't deserve unfettered freedom.  We all need guardrails. And gardens give the most fruit when prudently pruned.

       @elliswyatt @thor Nothing is free & resources ltd. #capitalism allows us to channel our selfish instincts in service to others and in great freedom. But it's not without extremes it has proven itself incapable of mitigating. Capital has no incentive to clean up the streams they pollute until no other clean streams remain. It forgets that workers are fellow citizens unless it's made to remember & forced pay them well. Democracies need to hold the reins of the mkt and ensure it works for them.

       @gme omg, this is awesome! You don’t know if no one tells you! How else are we supposed to understand all this instantly.  It feels a little like the MCU over here, complete w epic battles and multiple timelines.   Is there a diagram of this?And btw, am I noting that you can make your posts as long as you want and you can edit your posts, because you admin your own instance?  Totally unfair.

       @dgouttegattat @gme To clarify, I did kindof mean it as a joke to say that it's unfair. I think it's a cool perk of having your own instance that you can set some of your own rules. But I also get that if the digital load coming into other servers is too heavy that could be bad for the system. I am just grateful we have more characters here than twitter! wish I were more concise....
