@stux there are still areas all over the world (old and new) where streets with zero vehicle access. In those areas the 'street' can be 1-2m wide. We are not sacrificing space to cars, we are allocating that space for vehicles in addition to the pedestrian sidewalk.

@stux For many years I have confused my optician(s) when I ask them to only show me frames with absolutely no visible branding on them. When they ask why, I just explain that I don't want to advertise a brand name on my actual face. It's a lot harder with clothing and often the best I can hope for is a slightly less visible 'low profile' branding element.I will never understand people with Nike swish tatoos.

@stux I just had three RSJs fitted for my loft. They had a portable, hand cracked lifter that came in in bits and could fit through a standard doorframe. Cost £100 a day to hire. Steels lifted were bigger than that one.

@internetarchive In the last few months I have liquidated a lot of my 90s video games (Sfamicom, Dreamcast etc). A few carts sold for £200-300 which cost me £20-30 back in the day.I have been trying to explain to my nephew the benefits of buying all games in disk if there is an option. Even if they are 20-30% more expensive, you can lend them to friends, play them forever or sell them in 20 years to help renovate your house.
