This represents mine and @konstantin 's work, very much part-time, over the last ~3 months. Working in spare time, around life, illness and everything else.I hope it's useful in helping kickstart indie client app projects and I hope interested devs contribute towards it's growth and covering the rest of the Mastodon/Pleroma/etc APIsWorth noting that we have a goal of being platform agnostic, as much as we reasonably can!

@atomicpoet @mattsheffield true, but possible that quite a few of those who found it too difficult may also have been reporting missing features if they had got through the front door !

@strypey it depends on how you use them, and arrangements with them made by humans are more likely to please humans ?

@gedeonm there’s no telling those folk. They will likely leap to whichever centralised platform looks like it brings the most reach

Oh thank goodness for that (!)(Checks list) we still have:* an airborne, disabling virus mutating in our communities * a virus that savages the immune system and can cause damage to internal organs.* Staffing and supply chain issues because of waves of the sickness caused. The levels that qualified as a global health emergency may have subsided.Unfortunately plenty of people will this sort of headline to mean “oh good we’re all back to normal”

@atomicpoet “the marketplace of algorithms” has a big “debate me in the marketplace of ideas” tone to it, to me

@louis I am not convinced he knows what 'normal users' want. The idea that mid-sized instances are stuck in some sort of valley and the two valid choices are solo instances (like me) or giant instances like *.social, is incredibly lacking IMOI feel like a fork into a community led edition may be better for Mastodon in the longer run

Seeing some of the disparaging remarks on Apple's Vision Pro and honestly... it's just so predictable.Yeah they look goofy. Yeah there's a load of edge case problems. Yup they're expensive AF.That's not necessarily the point though. I can walk into almost any high street and point you out a bunch of stuff in stores that ticks all those boxes.Being able to speak to some one remotely, with a level of 3D presence and depth though? That looks like part of the future I wouldn't mind having

The "edgy" hot takes could easily be copy-pasted from the AirPods launch, the Apple Watch launch, the iPad, the iPhone, the iPod...

But I mean c'mon... if we're going to have mobile computing go down this route (and well, it is...), do you want the consumer version of what Apple announced today, with a bit more evolution, or... Meta's meta-verse?

@atomicpoet I hadn’t realised just how strong some folks faith was in corporate run social media, and centralised systems, despite what we’ve seen in the last year with Twitter and Musk.

@jeff @atomicpoet I’m guessing a desire to keep things to a small circle, or believing it’s centralisation keeps it simple and easier to adopt?
