@yogthosI'm okay with capitalism but - for the past 20 years the rich have pressed us for "unrestrained" capitalism. The job of democracy is specifically to restrain the powerful in the interest of the common good. The whole world has been sliding towards fascist oligarchy. I hope Canada can be a better voice for social democracy.

@StillIRise1963 YES.Corporate fascism defeats democracy because billionaires move their money around the world to punish and control nations. While money can cross any border, mere citizens cannot. We must all urge our govts to find ways to coordinate our resistance. Together, we must reestablish ways for democracy to restrain the powerful.

@interfluidity @danielahanley In my own theory, billionaires are colluding to promote fascism everywhere where the economy is based on oil (ie everywhere in the world). Because they know that an informed electorate would eventually vote to LIVE and resist having their children die in climate disaster. Trump’s job is to make fascism entertaining. SCOTUS job is specifically to kill the power of democracy to restrain oil oligarchs. Chevron is their knife in the heart of human survival.

They can't imagine giving up their .01% status and their infinite wealth. The politicians they buy not only pledge allegiance to oil but also ensure the rise of ignorance and cruelty so that most of the population is busy demonizing each other. They know that a well informed electorate would vote for human survival - given half a chance.
