Fedi Hive mind, is there such a thing as a USB-C ethernet adapter that provides PoE out?I know the reverse exist (PoE in to USB-C PD out), but that’s not what I want. I need to power a device that takes PoE in, from my laptop for the purposes of configuring said device when I don’t have a handy PoE switch available.

Despite the clouds yesterday (partial), we managed to charge the new house batteries from solar to 80%And because it wasn't hot, that meant we used no grid power from 6am onwards (even all night the battery powered the whole house).#solar #battery

I have the system set to reserve 15% of the battery for unexpected outages, and when I got up this morning we had 17% remaining. So that seems like a reasonable number to leave it on for now.Today is of course partly cloudy again, so we still won't get a full charge (and it looks like most of the week will be the same). However, with the greater roof area covered by solar panels compared with our old system, we're now harvesting solar from around 6:00 to 16:30 as opposed to 8:00-14:00. #solar

Foccacia style bread just out of the pizza oven. I pre-heated the oven to pizza temps (450°C) put the bread in, turned off the gas, closed the door and flu and 8 mins later, bread!#breadPosting

@troberts It is quite useful for things like electrical connectors, but that's not what most people use it for. But yeah, I presume, people put money in to gold when they other stocks seem too volatile and they feel they need to put the money somewhere (and the price of gold does increase over time).

When they said FreeBSD 15 was now easier to install, they weren’t wrong. Here it is up and running on a Lenovo Thinkpad. Wifi works, trackpad works, setting up X11 was easy. Pretty impressed really. #freebsd

@KiwiEV We found the robot one we had was almost as much work. It wasn't particularly effective, had a very small capacity, so you had to empty it often, and hair got caught in the rollers which meant pulling it apart to clean that out too.

The Prado is now approx 40kg lighter, and somewhat more roomy. I removed the third row seats that were never use. Still have to build a floor to put in there over some sound deadening. As an aside, hardware stores do not stock M10x1.25 bolts in any length. Everything is M10x1.5; toyota though, use M10x1.25 to mount the seats and I’m planning on reusing those holes for the new floor.

It's 4:30am... I've been up for ½ hr as we're road tripping to Sydney today. The Kookaburras went off three times before there was any hint of light outside. The rest of the dawn chorus is just starting up now (Mr Figbird is particularly loud).

Sometimes you look at place names and just have to wonder why? There’s got to be a story behind these island names.
