@futurebird Hooray! My cat also had that condition but a daily pill fixed him right up. After a few weeks he stopped fighting me about that pill, but I still have a scar or two from the first attempts.

@futurebird I tried those pill pocket things but he’d just yack those up. I got really good at pilling him and he seemed resigned to our daily event after awhile.

So this Volvo XC60 rental (comp upgrade from Avis) is nice but it has a little farty 4-banger engine and it sounds terrible in such an expensive car. It’s got some kind of mild hybrid system but has no ability to run solely on volts. Even with all this tech it’s only getting about 26mpg-9L/100km. And I hate hate hate having HVAC controls buried in a fucking touchscreen.

Gorilla Glass is made in Kentucky. It’s used in almost every phone and tablet. Gets shipped to China and has a tariff exacted. That’s added to the BOM. Glass is put into a thingie that gets shipped to the US where it’s hit with another tariff. You pay for both, one way or another. Eventually the thingie makers stop buying Gorilla Glass and go elsewhere. The Corning plant in Kentucky shuts down and hundreds of people are out of work in a little town with few other prospects. @stux I feel the same way about the concept of “owning” land. It’s always been there. Some dude shows up and few centuries ago and goes “mine!” One cannot “own” a piece of the planet. They can only claim it or take it from someone.
