@yogthos @soc_i_ety @scandrof When my grandfather returned to Slovakia in 1965 for a two-week visit, he was followed by agents the whole time. Some relatives would not take him in. Communism has its good points. It also had its dark points. We need to learn from the experience, and go beyond what today's ideologies are proffering.#tiereddemocraticgovernance

@yogthos If I were to take this analysis to the next level, I would ask "Why do 40% of Americans not bother voting?" #tiereddemocraticgovernance

@drgeraint I was in a Trabant. It's kind of hard to imagine a worse car.

@drgeraint No, but my Trabant driver was disabled, with no right arm, but a right hand stuck out of his shoulder. He rigged up some mechanism to shift the gears. Watching him shift gears, with the car shaking and rattling. Great roar of the underpowered engine! Black smoke! "This is Slovakia," I thought. Unique experience, indeed. But much safer than your Tesla.

@futurebird This is an interesting angle. There's only so much room in the back rooms. The people in these places don't want to be replaced.

@reverend I took a look at the piece. Having access to the public software that is surveilling us is a concept worthy of consideration. I never thought of that before .

@lowqualityfacts I know a little Czech. This man is speaking 100% truth, just like all his other posts. He should be President.

@yogthos I think it was Mao who said, "A nail which sticks out gets hammered down." I have to wonder who decides who is sticking out and who gets to use the hammer. I don't see any redeeming features in the current Chinese power structures.

@yogthos Good point. But other nations with other systems have done the same. Most people in North American before 1920 were living day-to-day, barely making enough for food and rent. And it was their voting power that put FDR in charge and gave him the mandate to do something about the depression. The people need to have some input, both in their leadership and in the decisions. China does not get high scores in this matter.

@yogthos The Tibetans, Uighur, and Taiwanese would disagree with these polls. The Mongolians in Inner Mongalia would prefer to join their mother country. Mongolia and Siberia may be in the hands of Chinese in a decade anyways. This model of governance is not suitable for the 21st century. Same for western democracy.

@hosford42 @VulcanTourist @Jennifer Interesting thread going on here. My question would be: "What should we do after 'whatever is going to happen' happens?" I have an alternative democracy that (I believe) is worthy of an inspection. Follow my byline if interested. BTW, the Democratic Party will not be able to fix things for the USA. Nor will they be interested in a different system.

@stux Unfortunately, 30% of Americans believe this Project 2025 system will work better for them. And they are better organized than their enemies. We need a new way.
