I wonder how many folk are bringing Covid home to loved ones for Christmas. How many will blame “nasty colds” or use the fact that nobody else is bothering any more to obscure the possibility they may have been the vector that brought it to an elderly relative etc.Anyway. I still haven’t figured this out. It’s across all my devices, and even ones not signed into iCloud anything at all. Potentially some IPV4 / IPV6 routing issue, but I’ve no idea nor the patience to figure it today 😅

@futurebird I was in NZ, and we locked down early and hard, and we kept it out of the country pretty successfully for 18 months.I knew it wasn’t fake, because I followed people in NY on Twitter, and saw the posts about the non-stop sirens. I saw Sky News in the UK reporting from an Italian hospital that was overloaded.I paid attention.This far in to the pandemic, that is still ongoing, I have to assume most people don’t want to. The idea it’s fake is a comforting lie

It’s ok to start resuming mitigations if you’ve been slack/ignoring things for a while.There’s a weird wrinkle in human behaviour where people think it’s all or nothing, it’s really not.You could do a job where masking is impossible, and still mask up at the supermarket.You could switch to outdoor meetups when the weather is good.There’s a whole suite of minor inconveniences that could help you and others around you.

I hate where the US election looks like it is going and the inevitable cost on humanity that it is likely to have.One thing is quite clear to me though.The rest of the world having so much of our digital lives routed through and dominated by the USA, is a huge problem and risk to so many things. For a lot of our digital and online lives, the USA is a single point of failure.
