It's offputting in the same way that DiCaprio's climate activism is offputting. This is of course stacked on top of the regular rightoid objections to climate change, which are probably misinformed but still genuinely held.

"There are fake news stories coming out of Ukraine" and "*Every* news story coming out of Ukraine is fake" are two different things.Also if lying one time is sufficient justification to not trust someone, then you shouldn't trust the stories coming out of either side. The result is deeper blacks, a wider color gamut, better color accuracy, etcOLED is an entirely different type of display tech where the pixels themselves emit light, rather than functioning as a gate that opens and closes for the light source behind it as in most other display technologies. The advantage is that you get perfect blacks and extremely fast response times, a wide color gamut and the screen can usually get pretty bright. Disadvantage is the organic light-emitting layer degrades over time, so you lose brightness and color accuracy, and can have burn-in issues like on old boob tubes, as times goes on.microLED is the absolute latest tech, you can think of it as just a grid of millions of the standard LEDs we're used to in other applications, which wasn't feasible before because the LEDs were too large and costly to economically make several million of them aligned and set up as a display. It doesn't degrade over time like OLEDs do, brightness levels can get insane for your HDR content, color gamut is insane, response time is insane...and the prices are also insane, with the cheapest being $80k. Expect those prices to come down as the tech is refined though.
