       @herag OpenBSD is reminiscent of how Linux was in the golden years of the 90's, except of course, OpenBSD is much, much better than 90's Linux. I think this is one, but only one, of the appeals of OpenBSD.

       @tylor @Suiseiseki Mastodon is not SAASS. You cannot run software on your own computer (only) to do what Mastodon does, just as you cannot run a web server on your own computer to replace the web. The key is in the phrase "Software Substitute", and not just that you are connecting to a remote service. Other people's web servers are not SAASS, even though they are a service run on other people's computers.

       @tylor @Suiseiseki I can see that point of view, but I don't think it is very useful. The important point is whether or not the Javascript is Libre software (which Google Docs isn't). Javascript is also software running on your own computer, so it doesn't really qualify as SAASS, even though it is doing the job of a potentially existing native application.Again, websites that employ some amount of Javascript do not by that fact become SAASS.

       @galdor @qed I am in such a workplace. It's ubiquitous Microsoft-think. I now have Outlook configured to send plain text emails, and reply in plain text. The average user doesn't even notice. Except when major formatting breakage happens.
