@foone can you find a shorter slur? Easier if the string length doesn't change.

@aral It should include a definition that's not tied to a specific number. How about:"Somebody with the amount of money owned (either liquid or in assets) that exceeds 200x the modal annual income of the country they live in" ?IE, they do not need to work to live a rich life from birth to death, at all. Or more.Which for NL would be about €8 million, and in California would be $24 million. In trying to convey to my kids how much money some people have, I had to resort to "assuming they have two kids, and split what they have evenly, and those kids each have two kids, repeat until money gets under morbidly rich, then they have enough money for all their (grand+)kids until the 2300s."

@bobjonkman We should really have a giant feast around winter solstice, with lots of tiny lights to compensate for the darkness, and like a get-together with the whole family with some good food, and maybe some gifts.Makes you wonder why no such feast exists.

@256 yeah... speaking of, recently tried to find something with Links. Turns out both Google and DDG do not work with Links any more - I had to use Bing.

@foone and then they complain when it doesn't work on proper browsers because of "cross domain scripting prevention"

@clive @pluralistic We should just call this period of the planet, the 2010+ time in which everything successful is being turned to shit, the enshittocene.

@grimalkina @thibaultamartin @mhoye I was hoping that the suggestion made clear that it's a sentence that makes sense only from within the software, that should in no circumstance have made it out to customers. The suggestion from @thibaultamartin is definitely implementable (it knows how you authenticated and what you're trying to do) and there's no reasonable excuse why it isn't that, or something equivalently good.

@olafurw That's just capturing reality with more accuracy than normal people tend to capture, because most of those cases don't often happen they are still actually relevantly different.1. There's toilet paper2. There's no toilet paper, the roll is empty3. The roll is gone, but the roll holder is empty4. There is no place to even put a roll if you had one, but there is a toilet5. The toilet is being rebuilt and the place to mount the roll holder does not currently existMost people only care about 1 or not 1 when they ask "is the toilet paper out"... but we kinda need the other details, so we don't try to screw a roll holder into nothingness and crash the system.

@foone What about programmable variable-length GAP3's? Variable sector counts per track with a minimal GAP3 length? 81 tracks?

@foone You need the largest gap ever - gap is just whatever isn't covered by the sector, and gap3 is the one that expands or shrinks to accommodate track length vs sector size.
