@carcosa @mmu_man for me it's not a big issue. My phone has been rooted 🙂

@galdor For me, it is a very surprising fact that many of my colleagues suffer from unhandy software, but they just don't want to spend time trying something else, even if it's free 🤷♂️

After one week of my switch from straight to elpaca, I can say without a shadow of a doubt that it's one of the best emacs package manager that I've ever used. Before it, I tried: quelpa, straight, package-vcSome pros:- very fast- asynchronously! UI isn't blocked when updating or installing new packages- pretty and handy UI for package management- For me, it was very easy to migrate from straight- Easily pin required package revision.- Has a lock file! https://github.com/progfolio/elpaca #emacs

Cons:- Sometimes asynchrony requires additional actions with your configuration at the time of initialization. For beginners, it can be difficult a bit- I wasn't able to get it to work with --debug-init at the start (found an issue on the GitHub but no success)

@galdor Yeah, but I only mentioned pros of the elpaca, without talking of straight disadvantages. If we compare them, elpaca has asynchronic, ability to pin revision via syntax sugar inside the use package. Also, when I update package, elpaca shows me changelog of all updates

@mitchmarq42xyz I think it would be better to donate to the authors of useful packages, like magit
