It’s been a minute but since I…have time…gonna go back to full self hosting (blog, Mastodon, maybe Discourse for friends, Pixelfed). Any recommendations on any of that stuff, in particular blogging platform for my main site?Also DigitalOcean + Droplets looks like the best balance of control and ease of use for my feeble brain, but maybe Vultr?

@friendlymike I have come to the justification/self-preservation that the minivan is the ultimate flex. Caring primarily about your family and getting shit done well. NO EGO. Sure your Tesla is cool and fast but I love my family and dog way more. 🤣I have looked at the Pacifica Hybrid and on paper I really like it, but many reliability concerns up and down the Pacifica line 😱

Half considering building a new Android app from scratch (for fun), and it's legit daunting to figure out all the stuff I never learned on the job. Hilt, Mavericks(?), Compose, SqlDelight, about 30 other things I'm not up to speed on…Surely there is a blog post of "here's where I would start" in 2023 from someone trustworthy?

Kid is starting to get into PC gaming (Minecraft, Fortnite, a few others), and maybe wants to build a mid-range machine. I'm thinking budget $800-$1200. I'm happy to pay a bit more for compatibility and convenience (would rather pay a little more for things that play together nicely instead of never ending debugging because I got some bottom of the barrel weird component with unsupported drivers). Any good resources y'all can recommend?

Getting more serious about network security and would like to get vpn integration + bullshit snooping/adblocking at the router level so all device are coverd. eero sucks for anything advanced but I've hesitated to switch (it works fine and I've sunk so much money into this stupid now-Amazon company).I need to cover about 3,000 square feet, across 3 levels.
