@mjg59 The part of the instructions that smelled strange to me was the "delete and reset 2FA auth tokens", implying that those tokens had become compromised on Amazon's side.But then it went on to talk about Fido/YubiKey - except I don't think I have ever seen an option in Amazon to auth using hardware keys?

@neil Something feels wrong about applications and services defaulting to something other than the system's DNS settings. Sure offer an alternative resolver but to bypass the system is not necessarily a good thing.

@revk Not wanting to put a downer on your holiday, but it is these kinds of petty extra charges that really wind me up the wrong way.We were in Cyprus earlier this year at an all inclusive package holiday resort. It had the usual ‘premium spirits' restriction which is fair enough, but what really annoyed me was the coffee.If I wanted coffee from the push-button machine with sweetened UHT milk then it was included. If I wanted a coffee from the espresso machine with real milk it was £6.

Adding to the confusion, Zoho makes a distinction between a Passkey and a Security Key.I am fairly sure that 97% of the issues with using Passkeys, hardware keys, and webauthn is caused by really really really bad UI.

It gets worse...You can use a hardware security key for MFA but not for passwordless sign-in.You can use a device passkey for passwordless sign-in but not for MFA.

@grayface_ghost we have three toilets for this very reason. His (toilet roll the correct way), hers (toilet roll the incorrect way), and another for when we can’t decide (bulk storage of Costco toilet rolls)
