@futurebird we use the Ecos ones. Very happy with them, never going back. One thing – put them *beneath* the clothes, not on top. If it gets stuck to the washer door (we have a front loading variety), then it can fail to dissolve.

@futurebird My wife likes to joke that I have a coffee machine problem. I buy a new one every couple years, hoping that THIS WILL BE THE ONE. I appreciate your framing of the problem.
