If like me you find #Slack tiresome, I encourage you to take a look at #Zulip. It's not as pretty, but it's SO much more effective as a team collaboration tool!Don't just take my word for it:https://www.capterra.com/p/197945/Zulip/reviews/

@EU_Commission I'm looking forward to saving €530 million a year, even though my energy bill is currently a touch smaller.

Dear #fediverse / #mastodon #meta experts:I know that #F1 is a borderline niche sport, but I find it strange to see so few #F1 tagged posts in my timeline - even though I follow the tag.Am I simply missing huge portions of the fediverse due to the way that federation works, and if so what could I do to improve on that?

@ben @neil @stefano my concern with docker is you move from relying on the developer(s) of the FOSS project to have implemented and maintained their codebase to relying on them to maintain their whole stack. If there's a security issue in the server stack, I want to be able to patch it up myself rather than potentially not even realising it's buried somewhere in the stack in the first place!

@Sammy8806 what's your policy for layer8.space regarding threads?

@grammargirl this gels with one of my pet hates - the traffic lights that are just turning to red as you approach, having driven the speed limit from the previous set of (just turned) green lights. I.e. traffic planners have deliberately sequenced the lights along a stretch of road to punish you for sticking to the speed limit / reward you for exceeding it!Adopting the opposite approach makes a lot of sense!

#php fans, if you need to connect to a database cluster (e.g. #Galera) for HA purposes, how do you do that?If I remember correctly, mysqlnd_ms used to be able to take multiple database servers and failover if one is not available (similar to JDBC failover) - but of course mysqlnd_ms died ages ago...What's the current PHP pattern to handle this need?

@prettygood yeah it's the "but what if HAProxy fails" part... we can have multiple HAProxy nodes, but how to connect PHP to them properly? Seems crazy that everyone just roles their own solution to this?

@matthew slow SQL queries that get cached and are therefore fast after? Or (less likely IMO) PHP OPcache having the same "healing" effects on some very inefficient PHP code?I'd suggest to start with SQL slow query logs and/or viewing SQL process list when it's loading slowly.
