I guess thanks to that billionaire guy buying the Birdsite for making me finally browse through Mastodon instances and find a new home?

@simon this is absolutely excellent work Simon, especially like that it's possible to install with Homebrew instead of the usual manual Conda setup! But in general, having ergonomic CLI and Python interfaces to do a lot of common tasks (download models, save chats and soon plugins) is amazing!

@simon I tried a few myself and after install errors, unexplainable crashes and bad performance I just gave up, so there's definitely space for something that's easy to use and nicely fits into the wider Unix tool (piping, yes!) and Python library ecosystem.

@simon if I see a particularly good Google Doc I instinctively duplicate it, but of course that will not receive updates. But maybe for linking in a blog post that's actually useful because you are referencing its current state anyway?Wish there was a way to create links with fallbacks, like you can have a set of images with different sizes in the same element 🤔

@aral somewhat relatedly I low key hate that closing the laptop keeps a bunch of things going like wifi and bluetooth and I couldn't find how to disable that. I guess powering the USB port can be useful if you want to use the (closed) laptop as a very expensive power bank for your phone? Wouldn't Mac OS know if there's something charging from the USB hub or if it's safe to suspend its power draw though?

@aral oh right! Apple is doing some interesting stuff with not charging the last 20% of the battery if you keep it plugged in all day at the same times to extend its life, so theoretically they could do something clever around this, but maybe not such a big and clear cut use case to bother with 🤷

@aral I was just thinking about posting why does humanity let men with fragile egos mess things up over and over throughout history...
