There is no better way to break a system than to introduce "AI" into it. Today's "AI" doesn't work, is an excuse to get rid of people who actually know how to do the job, and inflates valuation on corporate profits througe hype, mirrors and smoke. The myth of efficiency through technologies is at its peak. Any "indicator" of how much AI a gov't service is using will show how broken it is, not how much more efficient it's becoming at serving the people.https://www.404media.co/github-is-leaking-trumps-plans-to-accelerate-ai-across-government/

My student Sarah Brayne (now prof at Stanford) studied Palantir as part of new projects in 'predictive policing' in the early 2010s. In her book Predict and Surveil she discusses its early use among LAPD. I remember stories of data bought from pizza delivery companies, slurped through license plate readers, all compound enforcement upon Black neighborhoods in LA. As a CIA venture backed company, Thiel's govt funded dystopia has been with us a long time.via @urlymanhttps://mastodon.social/@urlyman/114686368631681250
