These have been replaced by active shooter drills, at least in the places I most frequently saw the shelter signs (schools). @tomjennings @ai6yr Thankfully, I just occasionally drive through Carmel—so not sure! And yeah, I think the rich-enough part is the key. I think some of the reactions elsewhere have included sound barriers on the surrounding fences (which would go a long way). And encouraging walking/cycling in would solve part of my problem with all the extra Mercedes/Tesla/Bentley(!!) filling up the limited street parking in my corner of SoCal

@tomjennings that most definitely looks like slots for a sensor wire, and is much higher quality work than I’ve recently seen for say, fiber vendors putting in extra to-the-curb lines various places. Smacks of unlimited budgets and c-suite attention for sure…
