@cosullivan It certainly is not normal. My kids have the right snow gear because we ski in the mountains though I know many of the families around here don’t.

@danny Yeah I’m starting to wonder if going skiing is even smart. maybe just a hike in an unpopulated place? Don’t want to be one of those “dumb” people spreading it

The wife and I decided that we will NOT be skiing...to much chance of contact with others even via lift bars and runny noses just happen on the ski hill. A hike in a little travelled spot is planned for tomorrow and a family movie.

So Mastodon “made it”?Today I noticed that Buffer released a scheduler for Mastodon posts. On one hand, great a larger company has noticed Mastodon and decentralized social networks and has invested in it.On the other hand...who needs to schedule posts to Mastodon? Marketing people? People with stuff to sell? People grooming their social media profile so that they look current?I'm not sure that schehttps://curtismchale.ca/2023/01/31/so-mastodon-made-it/#LinksofInterest

Possibly controversial macOS opinion...I never use the dock at all. It's always hidden so I don't care what's in it.Launchers and keyboard control all the way.

Goodby GrammarlySo Grammarly is training AI based on my writing, and you're writing too if you use Grammarly. While I bet there is a way to optout of this, I'm pretty tired of companies taking my writing without compensation and then allowing me to pay them to use the AI trained on writing I've done.So with that, goodbye Grammarly, you've been removed from all my computers and browsers. Now to find a decent grammhttps://curtismchale.ca/2023/08/15/goodby-grammarly/#LinksOfInterest

Stores Steal Female Worker Wages (members)While reading The Cost of Being a Girl I remembered back to early in my marriage with my wife working at a local women’s clothing store, and how little she was able to bring home. No she wasn’t paid particularly well, but that’s not the reason she didn’t bring home much money. The biggest reason she didn’t bring home much money was that they changed their https://curtismchale.ca/2024/05/05/stores-steal-female-worker-wages-members/#MemberPosts

Terminal RSS with NewsboatI've been falling in love with the simplicity of terminal based apps lately and that started in part with Newsboat the terminal based RSS reader I've been using for a few months. I've already written a short post about setting up Newsboat with Nix Home Manager but wanted to take a deeper dive into the tool today. Why Terminal? The first question you may behttps://curtismchale.ca/2024/11/15/terminal-rss-with-newsboat/#Apps #linux #newsboat #rss #terminal
