       @aallan It's not so much a 'social norms thing', as it is 'a group of plainly biased individuals within once-reputable news orgs are cynically attacking my right to exist and I don't think that should be tolerated thing'. There are a lot of trans people on this little network, and the hate speech from major publications is getting more push back here, because the people here recognize it for what it is.

At least 1 in 500 people born with a vagina have an XY pair, thanks to dysfunction in the SRY gene, which is responsible for testosterone receptors. Please stop spreading transphobic talking points, and leave the physiology to the medical professionals.

       @rebeccabguinn @TonyStarkNot XXY, just XY, and a vagina. It's part of the reason biomed students no longer use their own samples to practice karyotyping. The largest study to date found a prevalence of ~1 in 500, but we don't really know how many people are like that, because testing isn't widespread. Again, you are clearly uninformed on this topic. Please don't opine on this stuff from a position of ignorance, your assumptions are both wrong & harmful.

Our only choice is to be honest, & face the unreasoning animus of the uninformed, or to hide ourselves from the hateful masses & live a miserably inauthentic, unfulfilled life.        @rebeccabguinn @TonyStark @Heimdall It's effective propaganda because many people tend to prefer a simple falsehood over a complicated truth. The answer is not to give up and embrace the falsehood, but to educate people about the complicated truth instead. It's not a quick fix, but it's the only honest way forward.

       @stux Thank you very much! I'm sure you'd be getting flak either way, but I sure appreciate this decision. Lots of pathological optimists in the crowd, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
